(For Friday Favorites we spotlight past recipes that you may have missed, and this Soy Balsamic Chicken from Kiss My Whisk sounds like a great meal any time of year.)

Chicken is such a great starting point for other flavors to build on, and that's what happens in this Soy Balsamic Slow Cooker Chicken from Kiss My Whisk.  Bone-in chicken goes in the slow cooker with onions, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, bay leaves, garlic, and a touch of brown sugar and after 5-6 hours on low the chicken is flavorful and pull-apart tender.

  1. I made this recipe yesterday and liked it very much. When I make it again, I will use less soy sauce than the recipe called for- maybe substituting more chicken broth. It wasa bit too "soy saucey" for my liking. But will definitely make adjustments and make it again!

  2. Cindy, thanks for letting us know how you liked it!

  3. I made this last night and it was ok, but my husband said he liked the recipes I use from your site better. However, it should be noted that I don't usually like "crock pot meats" and I started it before I left for work on low for 4 hours and let it warm the rest of the day. Perhaps if we had eaten it right away it would have been better.

I agree with Cindy, it was too soy saucy even though I used less soy sauce and add more chicken broth.

  4. Thanks for the feedback. Personally I don't like chicken that's cooked all day in the slow cooker (unless you're making it for something where the chicken will be shredded apart) so I would guess this wasn't as good as it could have been if you cooked it all day.

  5. I made this for my husband's birthday on St. Ptrick's day and it was soooo good! My husband said it was the best chicken dish I've ever made and my in-laws were raving about it. I will be making this again in the future. Thanks!

  6. Menaka, so glad you liked it and thanks for coming back to leave a comment!

  7. I have just made this last night. It was so good. The soy sauce and balsamic vinegar I had were quite sweet so I just used half cup of soy sauce and replace the remaining quarter cup with water. I only used 1 tbsp sugar and it was still too sweet for us.

We love the tangy taste but thought the black pepper is too overwhelming. Must reduce the amount next time.

I will definitely make this again.

  8. PL, thanks for sharing your feedback. It definitely makes the site more useful when people take the time to report back!
