One year ago today was the official launch date for Slow Cooker from Scratch! For me, it's been a fun year of discovering how diverse slow cooker recipes can be while also figuring out how to best manage a curated site. When I first launched the site, I asked bloggers to submit individual recipes, which led to a lot of duplicate submissions, and was hard to keep up with. Now if you're a food blogger with from-scratch slow cooker recipes, you can Submit Your Site and I will follow your blog by RSS reader and watch for recipes I'd like to feature.
There have been 252 featured recipes this year! I apologize to anyone who submitted a recipe during the year and it never was featured here. I was surprised that I had more submissions than I could spotlight in a timely manner, and I also quickly learned that recipes had to have a really spectacular photo to get noticed on a site like this.
Despite the title of the blog, I'm not a fanatic about using everything from scratch. (I especially love my canned beans!) But I really like the idea that when you make something from scratch, you know just what goes into it, so for the birthday celebration I thought it would be fun to spotlight Ten Often Purchased Foods Items to Make from Scratch in the Slow Cooker. Most of these will probably be better when you make them from scratch, and they'll save you some money too!
