Years ago I went on a cruise which had International Dinner Night, where the chefs prepared things that were the national dishes of various countries. That was my one and only time tasting Feijoada, usually considered the national dish of Brazil. Feijoada is a meaty black bean stew with vinegar, and I loved it when I tried it, so when I stumbled on this Slow Cooker Brazilian Feijoada from Mel's Kitchen Cafe, I knew I had to spotlight the recipe here. Mel serves the stew with white rice and oranges, and since her husband lived in Brazil for a few years I have to assume the orange are traditional. Pair this with a green salad on the side I think it sounds perfect for a Slow Cooker Summer Dinner.
Ingredients for this CrockPot Recipe:
Dried black beans, thick-cut bacon, boneless pork shoulder, salt, fresh ground black pepper, beef short ribs, onion, chicken broth, ham hock, white vinegar. For serving: orange wedges, hot cooked rice.
