(For Friday Favorites we feature past recipes you might have missed, and this Crockpot Green Bean Casserole from Crockpot Gourmet sounds perfect for Thanksgiving.)
I was excited when I spotted this no-canned-soup Crockpot Green Bean Casserole from Slow Cooker Gourmet, and it was partly because Jennifer made it in the new Crock-Pot Casserole Slow Cooker! I recently purchased one of these slow cookers where the crockery part is shaped like a casserole dish, and I'm really liking it. But if you don't have the new casserole slow cooker (yet!) you can make this in any oval-shaped CrockPot.
Of course, this recipe does use fried onions in a can, which are most definitely not a "from-scratch" ingredient, but Thanksgiving only comes once a year so if you like fried onions on your green bean casserole, you have my blessing.
Ingredients for this CrockPot Recipe:
- frozen green beans
- thick cut bacon
- chicken broth
- heavy cream
- Italian or Steak Seasoning blend
- Parmesan cheese
- fried onions from a can
