Char Siu pork is the Chinese version of barbecued pork, and I think the pork in these Slow Cooker Char Siu Pork Lettuce Cups from Andrea Meyers looks just like the Char Siu pork I've enjoyed in Chinese restaurants. Don't you love it when you can make one of your favorite restaurant dishes at home in the slow cooker!
For maximum flavor, Andrea marinates the meat in the slow cooker on warm for a few hours before the actual cooking time starts, and she serves it inside lettuce cups which I think sounds perfect for a Slow Cooker Summer Dinner.
Ingredients for this CrockPot Recipe:
- low-sodium soy sauce
- hoisin sauce
- minced garlic
- grated fresh ginger
- dark sesame oil
- five-spice powder
- boneless pork shoulder (Boston butt)
- low-sodium chicken broth
- iceberg lettuce leaves for serving
