I love this soup, and if you’re one of the fans of split pea soup, this recipe for Split Pea Soup with Chicken Sausage and Carrots from Kalyn’s Kitchen uses roasted garlic chicken sausage and a generous amount of carrots to bump up the flavor.
The soup can cook all day while you’re at work, and if you’re in a rush in the morning I’d brown the sausage and onions the night before and just keep in the fridge overnight. Then dump everything in the crockpot, turn it on, and after work you’ll have a delicious soup waiting when you get home for dinner.

- Goya Ham Flavored Concentrate (optional, but it does add a lot of flavor)
- salt and fresh-ground black pepper to taste
