Welcome to Slow Cooker or Pressure Cooker!
About Me and the Team:
I’m Kalyn Denny, a long time food blogger and cooking gadget fan! I’m a retired elementary school teacher who’s now busy as a full-time food blogger and many days you’ll find me trying new recipes and photographing the food for Kalyn’s Kitchen, my food blog that features Easy Carb Conscious Recipes. And in my spare time I round-up and share slow cooker and Instant Pot Recipes on Slow Cooker or Pressure Cooker, with help from my brother Rand who does the graphics for this site and Jennette who does the website design!
How to Contact The Site:
You can write to me at kalynskitchen (at) comcast (dot) net. (That address needs to be converted to regular e-mail format.) I’m always interested in hearing from other slow cooker or pressure cooker enthusiasts, but questions about individual recipes should be addressed to the site where the recipe was originally published.
How This Site Has Evolved:
This site was created in 2012 to be a source for healthier slow cooker recipes that use whole food ingredients. I started Slow Cooker from Scratch because I was getting requests for more slow cooker recipes than I could possibly create on Kalyn’s Kitchen, and I wanted to share recipes from other bloggers who also used from-scratch ingredients and cooking methods to produce high-quality healthy meals from the slow cooker.
For more than four years, I featured exclusively slow cooker recipes on the site. Then the Instant Pot and Electric Pressure Cooker started getting popular, and I became an Instant Pot fan. So in 2017 we decided to expand the focus of this blog to include healthy Instant Pot recipes as well as slow cooker recipes.
I’ve changed the name of the site, but not the web location, so you shouldn’t get dead links when you come here from Pinterest or from old links around the web. And along with the new name change, we’re switching the site to WordPress which will make it easier to have constantly-updating visual recipe indexes to help you find posts. There will be Diet-Type tags at the top of each post for Kalyn’s Kitchen fans who are looking for carb-conscious recipes that work for a certain diet, and Recipe-Type tags at the bottom for people who are looking for a certain type of recipe or recipes using a certain ingredient.
I Like to Cook with Whole Foods:
I still rarely feature recipes that include canned soup, dry soup mix, packaged seasoning mixes, dessert mixes, or other highly processed and artificially flavored ingredients. We love recipes that use things like homemade stock, beans cooked from scratch, and fresh vegetables and herbs, but some recipes here may use real-food convenience products such as canned beans, canned tomatoes, tomato sauce, canned broth, canned vegetables, frozen vegetables, salsa, sun-dried tomatoes, dried herbs, dried fruit, jam, preserves and other similar products.
