| This comforting beef stew has onions, mushrooms, red wine, a bottle of dark ale, and just a touch of Dijon. (Photo from The Perfect Pantry.) |
This Slow Cooker, Ale, and Onion Stew from The Perfect Pantry is winter comfort food at it's best. The beef is browned and added to the slow cooker where it simmers with onion, Dijon mustard, wine, ale, thyme, tomato paste, and a bay leaf. Then after six hours you add pearl onions and sauteed mushrooms and simmer for another hour and a half. This stew sounds like something I'd love to dig into on a cold evening!
