I've been talking about using the slow cooker for summer dinners to help keep your house cool during the hottest days of the year, and when Jen from Bakerette contacted me about this recipe for Homemade White Bread in the CrockPot, I knew this was a recipe that lots of you would want to try.  Jen is a fellow Utah food blogger, and she's even been featured on a local news channel making this CrockPot Bread!  If your family likes homemade bread, but you don't like to bake it during the summer months, this can really help with that.

  1. Intriguing! I'd never have thought of baking in my slow cooker.

  2. Lydia, me either but I think it would be worth a try on those hot summer days.

  3. Obviously I can't test every recipe that's featured on Slow Cooker from Scratch, so I do appreciate feedback from readers who try a recipe. That said, it doesn't seem fair to post negative comments about a particular recipe from someone who hasn't tried it, but is skeptical about whether bread will work in the slow cooker.

  4. While I haven't made this recipe yet (I'm going to make the one with Rhodes rolls this weekend)I have made banana nut bread in the crockpot before and it turned out fine. So yes, you can make bread in a crockpot. It's wonderful on hot days when you don't want to have to heat up your whole house - I use my crockpot more in the summer than in the winter.

  5. Thanks for sharing that. I'm a bit fan of using the crockpot in the summer myself!
