Slow Cooked Homemade Refried Beans from Lynn's Kitchen Adventures

Homemade refried beans are healthier and more inexpensive than the ones that come in a can, but the most important reasons to make refried beans from scratch has to be the flavor you'll get from pinto beans that have been slow cooked all day while you're busy doing other things.  This recipe for Slow Cooked Homemade Refried Beans from Lynn's Kitchen Adventures sounds especially good to me, with a bit of onion, garlic, jalapeno, and cumin adding just enough spice to the beans.  Lynn uses her immersion blender to puree the beans, for creamy beans that you can use in an assortment of tasty Meatless Monday dishes.

  3. I've used this recipe exclusively for making my own "refried" beans and it it's great. It makes about 6 cups, do I usually freeze some in 2-cup packages (in vacuum-sealed bags but a freezer bag would work too). Vegetarian daughter loves them. -Trish
